"Music, Levitin argues, is not just something to help pass the time on road trips and a swell facilitator for meeting girls: it is, he writes,“the soundtrack of civilization” — a force that shaped us as a species and prepared us for the higher-order task of sharing complex communications with one another."

nah nah nah the link doesn't work... HELP
Well, duh. But really, intellectualizing music, while fun (and prolly unavoidable, for some of us mutants) kinda misses the point. At its core it's about your visceral reaction to it. Like I give a shit about "the higher order task of sharing complex communication" when the boomin bass just makes me wanna jump around or even less so when, as nah, nah, nah pointed out, yer being subjected to some repellent shite that you can't turn off. All you want is to make someone pay for yer suffering and that doesn't seem very much like "complex communication".
WELL, WHERE'S YOUR BLOG B?
I and I prefer to do my ranting in person (or should I say realtime). And those who work or socialize with me can attest that they are subjected to it pretty routinely.
