Breaking News!
...Okay, so quickly, what is up with the musical choices for tonight's broadcast of the Democratic National Convention? First, Ted Kennedy's tribute applause is drowned out by a should-be forgotten song by the should be forgotten band Orleans ("the band that made you feel so good way back when," according to their site.) Aren't lyrics like "you're still the one that can scratch my itch, we're still havin' fun, and you're still the one" a little lite-weight considering the senator's current condition?
And then, Michelle in that stunning aqua-foam green, as she hunched over her two "elegant" small daughters, and stood somewhat awkwardly on stage as "Isn't She Lovely" throbbed at top volume throughout Denver's Pepsi center?
Yikes!

Well, it would seem to me that the musical choices would be like the political choices. Which is to say, carefully vetted to not offend (familiar and non-threatening), rather than to inspire or surprise. If only they had played "Isn't she lovely" as Barack got on stage. That would have required hours of punditry on CNN as to the "significance of this moment."
And then this, kangol hats and a real screwy sound board:

Meanwhile, my grandpa's girlfriend, sitting next to me on the couch, shaking vigorously and "trying to find the beat!"

AND WAIT! Someone's hot on the trail of an analytical trend. Read it, for real...
